JT knows no boundaries. One safe way to summarize JT's style is via his seamless blending of multiple genres while ensuring proper flow "set" - quote from Seattle DJ/ longtime promoter OFDM. An esteemed promoter with over 20 years experience was quoted “I listened to //HOOKER// 's mixes and was completely amazed to find that he has a very unique and interesting style where it completely exposes the listener to a variety of new sounds and artists.” JT's rise to popularity is an interesting story in and of itself. Not willing to stand idly by and wait for gigs, JT started "12hr notice" events- a mix of internet and locally-promoted activism of throwing free renegade parties.. whereby ~12 hours of notice was given on where and when events would be thrown. Combining a generator, misc dj gear, subwoofer + other stuff, JT threw parties in Seattle parks and played music until they were shut down by the police. While 12hr notice is currently on hiatus, //HOOKER// 's plans are to re-start them in the summer, with the assistance of more respectful institutions, such as the GLBT-focused Three Dollar Bill Outdoor Cinema group, which hosts free movies in Cal Anderson Park. //HOOKER// 's talent and drive has allowed him to become one of the most sought after names in Capitol Hill nightlife culture. JT has played nearly every venue on the hill including Neumos, Chop Suey, The Eagle, Pony, ETG, FRED, as well as many others. JT has procured residencies at “it” venues including PONY and recently started a new, globally-influenced, locally-focused record label with family friend Ramiro (Uniting Souls). "Soon after moving from NYC to Seattle, JT learned motorcycle and lived on the Pacific Coast, Vancouver > Tijuana for almost a year. When he got back, Hooker built an audio/ visual mobile station and started 12hr notice events- mostly guerrilla-style street parties, announced the day-of. In March '10 at the now-defunct THE HOLE, Hooker helped throw some amazing after hours and curated the Open Wide film/ installation/ photography event. With various years under his belt exploring diverse public and private audio/ visual/ installation experiences, JT helps bring the party inside to Seattle bars + clubs. Hooker DJs eclectic tunes, runs refined and dirty beatbox effects over other DJs, and creates live, customized video projections and lighting installations at stunning spaces in Seattle + beyond. Hooker was The Uniting Souls' resident VJ for their well-respected ((DIALED)) parties throughout 2011, and is currently DJ'ing at some of Seattle's best parties.
